    The Alamo was first founded in 1718 as a Spanish mission. In 1836 a group of 188 men died fighting off several thousand Mexican troops in a 13 day siege.
    The Texas revolution battle cry "Remember the Alamo" spurred Sam Houston's troops to victory and Texas Independence at the Battle of San Jacinto near Houston, Texas. Most of the men who died at the Alamo were Honorary Texans, including Davey Crockett and Jim Bowie.

    The bordello opened for business in 1896 and was closed by the Texas Rangers in 1946. The building has been restored to its original glory with furnishings and is operated as a museum.

    Closed by the state in the 1970s. The movie, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas was made about the Chicken Ranch. The Chicken Ranch was the oldest continiously run brothel in the nation, (1844 to 1973). Privately, I have heard that it is still operating, but its location is a closely guarded secret, especially from consumer affairs broadcasters looking to make a name for themselves.
