    This is the only natural major lake in Texas. The lake was formed by an earthquake as a result of the Cado’s chiefs failure to obey the great spirit. It was actually formed from a log jam in the red river.

Texas Best Indian Battleground

    The first battle of Adobe Walls was one of the largest engagements between whites and indians on the Great Plains. (11-26-1864) Kit carson with less than 400 troops attacked a 150 lodge kiowa camp. He didn’t know about the 3000 to 7000 Comanches within a mile which made the battle a little more interesting.
    The second battle of Adobe walls (6-27-1874) occured when 700 Cheyennes, comanches and Kiowas under Quanah Parker attacked buffalo hunters camped at the walls.
